Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of Jackson County Criminal History. Using the website means accepting all terms below. Anyone who does not agree should stop using it.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. Neither the site nor its advertising partners provides a service intended for credit, employment, tenant, insurance, or any other decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to organize Jackson County and North Carolina criminal-record resources. It is not a consumer reporting agency or private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This private reference site operates independently of every government office. It neither stores official criminal records nor retrieves records, performs official checks, or files documents for a visitor.

Its pages identify Jackson County custodians, North Carolina courts, SBI CIIS, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Some pages also connect to outside tools that may assist personal research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the website in violation of federal, state, or local law
  • Stalk, intimidate, threaten, or harass another person with information found here
  • Rely on site content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt to enter systems or areas without authorization
  • Direct bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools at the pages
  • Interfere with service availability or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool must not be used to harass, stalk, threaten, intimidate, or discriminate. Misuse may violate the law. North Carolina registry information exists for public safety awareness, not retaliation, vigilantism, or unlawful discrimination against a listed person.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create credit reports, background reports, or any other consumer report. Our advertising partners are not presented as FCRA screening services. Data from this website or a linked tool must not be used to:

  • Make a decision to hire or dismiss a worker
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Assess creditworthiness or calculate an insurance premium
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Support any other decision governed by the FCRA

A check for an FCRA-regulated purpose must come from a legally compliant provider or the official process required by the relevant North Carolina authority.

5. No Legal Advice

The material is not legal advice. General information about Jackson County records cannot determine how a charge, warrant, conviction, or expunction rule affects an individual matter. Consult a licensed North Carolina attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All content and services are offered "as is." We make no guarantee that:

  • Any information is complete, accurate, or current at a particular time
  • Website access will remain continuous or interruption-free
  • The pages contain no defects, errors, or security vulnerabilities
  • An outside search provider will return complete or correct results

Charges, dispositions, restrictions, and expunctions can change the public record. Updates may lag. No page on this private website is an official statement from a court, sheriff, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to sheriff, court, state, legal-resource, and outside search sites that we do not operate. We are not responsible for their availability, content, fees, privacy, or results. Review the destination’s terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code belong to Jackson County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, modified, distributed, or adapted without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of this website or reliance on information obtained here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, actions, fees, and costs caused by your use of the website or violation of these terms.

11. Governing Law

North Carolina law governs these terms. Public agency records remain subject to applicable laws, including North Carolina Public Records Law, Chapter 132, and the criminal-investigation provisions in G.S. 132-1.4; neither law makes this private website a government custodian. Any dispute related to website use must be brought in a court located in North Carolina.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms become effective when published on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time and without prior notice.

14. Severability

If any provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be adjusted only as far as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
